What is the difference between 2D, 3D, 4D & 5D/HD Live ultrasounds?

2D - Your traditional two-dimensional, black, white and gray ultrasound image.

3D - Three-dimensional, realistic, flesh toned images.

4D - 3D videos in live motion.

5D/HD Live - High-definition. Crisper, clearer, most defined images.

Are ultrasounds safe?

According to both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), there is no evidence that ultrasounds harm a developing fetus. The exams don't use radiation or x-rays.

How can I prepare to get the best images?

Get hydrated! While it is beneficial to keep hydrated throughout your entire pregnancy, we recommend drinking plenty of water the week leading up to your ultrasound. This aids in producing clear and optimal images. Do not eat a large meal up to 2 hours prior to your appointment as this may cause your little one to fall asleep. You may drink juice and have a snack before your appointment to ensure baby is awake and active. You do not need a full bladder for these ultrasounds.

How long does the ultrasound take?

All appointments are up to 30 minutes long. However, we do allow one hour in between scheduled appointments in order to ensure we provide a memorable bonding experience for you and your family.

Is this ultrasound covered by insurance?

3D ultrasounds are 100% elective. These ultrasounds are not diagnostic in any way, they DO NOT replace prenatal care from your doctor and are not covered by insurance.

Can I bring guests to my appointment?

Absolutely! Our studio seats mom and 7 guests comfortably. Children are welcome and enjoyed!

What if we want babys gender to be a surprise?

No worries! We will put the gender in a cute little envelope for you to open when you are ready.

When is the best time for a 3D ultrasound?

Any time!

Up to 18 weeks, you will likely get to see the entire baby in one image. During this stage in pregnancy baby is very active. If your baby is awake you will see your baby kick, wave, open their mouth, etc.

19-26 weeks babys features are filling out more but there is a high chance that baby will be breech which may not be an ideal position for obtaining 3D ultrasound images.

27-34 weeks is my favorite time to get those most desired pics! Baby is generally head down which is preferred. This is the best time to get up close, detailed images of baby’s face in 3D. The detail gets more amazing the further along you are!

35-40 can be tricky depending on baby’s position. Baby is most likely very low in the pelvis at this point making it difficult to see the face.

What if baby is not in a good position to get great images?

While we will always try our best to provide the highest quality images, there may be times when baby does not cooperate. Even with a well-trained, experienced sonographer, we may not be able to capture the desired images. Occasionally, there are circumstances such as maternal body habitus, amniotic fluid levels, and fetal position that contribute to the inability to obtain images. While we do not offer a refund, the gold or platinum baby packages offer a FREE redo session!

What is M- Mode?

M-mode or “motion mode” gives a real-time representation of a moving object. AIUM recommends using M-mode when attempting to obtain a fetal heart rate measurement in the first trimester. After your first trimester we will be able to hear your babies heartbeat utilizing pulse-wave doppler.

What if I can not attend my appointment?

Simply cancel or reschedule the appointment via the confirmation email we send you when you book an appointment with us. We require 48 hours notice of a cancelation in order to receive a full refund. Unfortunately, no shows will not be issued a refund.
